It means that our convention is organized and fully supported by the Birmingham Intergroup of Alcoholics Anonymous. Our Intergroup is an integral part of the AA structure in Great Britain and works closely with our groups, other AA intergroups, regions, and GSO (General Service Office) in York.

When an Official AA Convention is created by Intergroup and other AA committees a procedure needs to be followed, as illustrated in the Intergroup meeting Minutes set out below. In addition, Convention Committee members need to be approved by the Intergroup, and the Convention Committee needs to work to a set of rules approved by the Intergroup – which the Convention Committee can not change without the agreement of the Intergroup.
